The Youth Film Challenge was founded by the creators of the Civic Life Project, a non profit organization bringing civics to life by empowering students to produce and screen short documentary films on community issues they care about. The online curriculum provided by Civic Life Project helps to train high school teachers and college professors to easily transform the civics curriculum into dynamic activities that show students they have the ability to shape their world.
The Challenge is a further continuation of the hopes of the Civic Life Project. By encouraging students like you to make films about the topic of your choice, we are energizing civic education and promoting civic engagement. We hope to deeply empower your sense of personal voice and agency in the communities by engaging you on issues matter to you!
We invite you to create a documentary film about the civic issue of your choice. We encourage a wide variety of topics and stories, and ask that you explore multiple sides of the issue promoting empathy and civil dialogue. Visit the Current Challenge page for a full list of rules and guidelines.
