Marisa Venegas, Emmy Award-winning Television Executive Producer and Writer and Multicultural Media Expert specializing in long- and short-form non-fiction content.
During her 26 year career at NBC, CBS, Univision and Telemundo networks, Marisa has participated in the launch and development of landmark prime-time newsmagazine shows. An outstanding writer, editor, and producer, she has created hundreds of hours of compelling visual narratives that advance the understanding of social, geopolitical, and environmental issues.
Marisa has been recognized with numerous broadcast and investigative reporting honors including the Gerald Loeb Award (2017), New York Press Club Award (2017), National Headliner Award (2017), Society of American Business Editors and Writers Award (2017), News and Documentary Emmys for Outstanding Investigative Journalism in Spanish (2016, 2014), George Polk Award for Television Reporting (2014); Investigative Reporter and Editors (IRE) Gold Medal (2014); Society of Professional Journalists’ Sigma Delta Chi and New America awards (2014) and four Sunshine State awards for Investigation and Public Service Television (2017, 2015).
Her work has also received Emmy Nominations for Outstanding Investigative Reporting in Spanish (2016, 2015), Best Interview (2010) and Outstanding Coverage of a Breaking News Story in a Newsmagazine (2008).
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Marisa is proud to have mentored dozens of young journalists. She has a master’s degree in Science and Environmental Reporting from New York University and a B.A. in Anthropology, with a specialization in Medical Anthropology, from Barnard College.
